9th Ward Rebuild

This house was damaged and left empty following Hurricane Katrina. It was a complete teardown, but we decided to save it anyhow. Of the original, the only part kept was a small section of the floor in the front of the house. The floorplan got a dramatic overhaul, the house lifted on average 2 inches, and the doors and windows were stripped of paint and completely overhauled, and sometimes replaced entirely. In most houses, a large amount of the beauty comes from the doors and windows. It was very important to me to retain the original cypress millwork that gives the houses of New Orleans their character. No expense was spared to make sure that the house would glow both inside and out by retaining the cypress millwork.
