Tremé Renovation

New Orleans, LA

This house was once a traditional double shotgun. When I arrived, a previous owner had taken it upon themselves to split the house in the opposite direction, leaving the front apartment two front doors and no bathroom or kitchen.

After talking through the various approaches, the client decided to remove the central load bearing wall between two rooms and within this space build the new kitchen, dining room, and bathroom.

At the end of the day, we were able to return the original floor to its former glory. We added some beautiful cypress millwork components to continue the theme of wood that imparts a soft glow to the space. The sink was an antique that provided the basis for the design of the rest of the kitchen.
