In New Orleans, the weather lends itself readily to the outdoor shower, sometimes even opening the entire bathroom to the elements. In a city that rarely drops below 50 degrees F and often sustains temperatures in the eighties and nineties for weeks at a time, an outdoor shower is a luxury that you would do well to indulge in. Being open to the elements allows one to incorporate vegetation in ways that just are not possible in a traditional bathroom. These projects are some of my favorite to design and build, with an emphasis on natural and salvaged materials, plants both in ground and potted, and a level of lavish beauty that complements the feelings of delight and luxury one gets when bathing under the open sky.
